Reports that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum welcomed their daughter have been circulating since Sunday, but now the couple has officially confirmed the happy news and added one big detail: The little girl’s name is Everly.
“Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Channing Tatum are thrilled to announce the birth of their daughter, Everly Tatum, who was born on May 31st in London,” reads a statement on the actor’s official website. “Sending love and light to Chan, Jenna and Ms. Everly!”
The reigning “Sexiest Man Alive” and his “Step Up” co-star announced their pregnancy in December after four years of marriage.
Tatum previously revealed that the baby would be delivered in London due to his filming schedule for “Jupiter Ascending.” “We’re going to actually have the baby in London while I’m shooting, and then there will be no downtime whatsoever after that,” he told Ryan Seacrest.
The new daddy said he wants a lot of kids, but acknowledged that it’s not entirely up to him.
“The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we’ll see where we go after that,” he told People magazine. “It’s really easy for us guys to say, ‘I want like 15 kids.’ Jenna will be like, ‘Well you better get another wife!’”All joking aside, Dewan-Tatum seemed pretty relaxed about how they’d take to parenthood.
“Who knows what kind of parents we’ll be? We have two dogs, so we’ve had some practice!” she said. “And as soon as this baby comes into the world, Channing and I will figure it out real fast.”
Channing Tatum is now officially the Sexiest Dad Alive.
He and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum, 32, have welcomed their first child, PEOPLE confirms.
Additional details, including the sex of the baby and the birthdate, are not immediately available.
It is the first child for the couple, who wed in 2009 after meeting on the set of Step Up. They announced their pregnancy in December.
Baby Tatum arrived in London, where the couple has been residing while Tatum, 33, films Jupiter Ascending with Mila Kunis.
In April, Dewan-Tatum told Glamour her husband has been a supportive-bordering-on-indulgent pregnancy partner.
“Channing has been great. He takes the route of no confrontation, just support, saying things like, ‘Do whatever you want! What do you want to eat? I’m going to leave it up to you,’” she said.
Meanwhile, the actor admitted he’s clueless when it comes to one key aspect of parenting — diaper duty.
“I have never changed a diaper before, so I may need some help learning,” Tatum told PEOPLE earlier this year. “I don’t have friends who have kids, so it’s going to be an interesting experience to learn how to change a diaper. I hope I don’t have any problems where the diaper falls off and the baby [poops] on the ground.”
